Wales is reaping the economic benefits of marine energy and has the potential to be a world leader in the sector, according to a study.

MEP project director David Jones said: “There is huge potential in Wales to develop a new sustainable energy sector and build on the positive impact marine energy has already had.

In February, a study for the UK Marine Energy Programme Board, chaired by Energy Minister Amber Rudd, suggested the UK could capture a slice of the global marine energy market worth up to £76bn by 2050.
