If you want to succeed as a politician that appeals to the masses, I wouldn’t go into climate change in the ALP. Working class people see their job losses as a consequence, and you can’t out green the greens so you are in a no win position. Traditional ALP voters see the move to green as a betrayal of ALP values. Whoever goes into that tile will end up like Butler, and ALP overall whilst they maintain their current climate change ideals.
