I can't see any winners here. Labor and the unions won't be happy Heydon's staying. But it probably won't help the Libs either, as him staying will just deepen public suspicion about whatever findings the Commission eventually hands down - especially amongst the important swinging voters who aren't inherently pro or anti unions.
Abbott will be seething that someone in his party was stupid enough to invite the guy in the first place.
