l am an old timer too , and reluctant to post here as not that interested in being jumped on by selfish people who ignor the needs of others.
l had to leave Australia 4 months ago to support my wife in her visit to see her critical ill mother in Europe. We had to do the caring thing.
Coming back home is a disaster - ok if we lived in Australia , but we live in WA, One of us suffers from claustrophobia and we have 3 medical reports saying we should quarantine in our home - not a hotel. But on 3 attempts we were refused home quarantine in 3 applications before flying home.
So we changed flights at much expense , paid a month more hotel costs to return on Feb 5 , as from that date there was to be no quarantine. Also we are out of needed medicine and Australia Post not allow medicine to be posted.
So now we can not come home and we have been told 3 times , after supplying our medical reports , that we can not home quarantine.
l read that in Perth they have placed 57 people WITH the virus in home quarantine - but we can not - does that make sense.
We decided we can only come home , so lets go home early - but NO , there are flight number caps up until Feb 5 because not enough hotel rooms.
Now there are 80,000 due to arrive home in the first 2 weeks , so where are the hotel rooms for that.
lt all seems crazy to be and most of these issues can be avoided with a bit of planning and common sense.
