I oppose just about everything Netanyahu has said and done BUT the turning point (for the better) can only arrive when backwards directed finger pointing eases off. The process of change for the better requires paranoia to be replaced (albeit slowly) by trust.
Looking at the history of the region, empires that lasted tended to be INCLUSIVE of many peoples and belief systems. Those empires tottered and failed when EXCLUSIVE / Ultra nationalist dogma (sometimes masquerading in religious from) took over .
It's relevant to note that proxy arrangements in this region don't last for long .
If we were to rank the sustainability of current ME political structures by their inclusiveness most will fail. They will not last centuries with by internal and neighbourhood conflict remaining a near certainty.
