Mark Scott admits knowing the release of Snowden`s material could hurt Australia`s interests but arrogantly has made the decision that despite this it was in the public interests. It seems timed to hurt Abbott though he was in no way responsible for ordering the spying. The ABC head Mark Scott on $700,000plus package is supposed to be politically neutral but bias would seem obvious. Should he also be charged under the crimes Act. From Fin. Review summary this would be logical. and appropriate.

Christopher Joye in the Financial Review:
Under the Officials Secrets section 79 of the Crimes Act a person can be imprisoned for up to seven years for communicating or retaining secret government information, particularly if it prejudices the Commonwealth’s security or defence, when they know it has been illegally supplied to them, when they have no right to retain it, and/or if they fail to take reasonable care to ensure that it is not publicly shared.
