My impression is that Bill Beaumont (DVP, ex NST), Rayleigh Finlayson (GMD, ex SAR) and even Jake Klein (EVN, ex SinoGold) are all better known than Mark Zeptner despite the chart below. Note that MZ was appointed CEO of RMS in June 2014. Based on the chart, MZ has provided the best shareholder return by far over the past 10 years. Does anyone know the reason for his relative lack of fame? I can only think of 3 possible reasons: (1) The share price of RMS was just so severely undervalued when he took over as CEO, so the relative outperformance is considered to be due to market vagaries rather than his superior skills; (2) He is considered to be just lucky to have inherited a fantastic asset such as Mt Magnet, and has not transformed a frog to a prince - although I think he has turned RMS into a very profitable company; (3) He hasn't grown RMS to the size of the other companies - but I think it shouldn't matter as much as the TSR. Does anyone know better reasons?
