The original holders don't need their shares back as long as the SP is at least equivalent to what they bought them for.
If I buy at $3.6 and loan them out to shorters, I have no reason to ask them back until they're worth $3.61 again.
Unless I want to fry the shorters. Now why would I do that? They pay me for borrowing my shares.
The only other reason I'd want them back is if I needed to sell them. But then again, I wouldn't want to do that sub $3.61.
