Able77,a Protection Bid is as it says. I feel they are submitted by whoever to make the Buying Side off the Bids solid and to keep nervous Sellers at Bay.
(Scarry Selling Bids could also be used to Push a Share Price Down by whoever who may in interested in picking off some nervous Sellers).
It's all Tactics and I Think Short Sellers are Damm Masters at it.
