I would recommend "Survival Investing" by former Goldman Sachs man John R Talbott, to get an idea of the rampant corruption the small investor is up against these days. He makes mention of Hedge Funds that attach themselves to single stocks like leaches and manipulate the hell out them to provide volatility they can profit from. At the expense of the small investor of course. Sounds familiar.
