i agree re seeing a degree of accumilation occuring - especially if all these deals are infact close. The reason being if you are an FMCG just about to make billioons in commitments over a longer period, one of the best ways to make that cost effective for you is to also have a significant chunk of the target company before making your offers - that way you win on the upside track of the share price following an announcement that you know will positively affect sentiment - netting out your overall investment to a bit less than what you put on the table.
Just what i would think about doing if i was a huge multinational FMCG - mind you if i had billions i could think of a wide range of other things i would do too!
