To make a short story long...I've been trading for more than a decade on cash accounts but switched to a margin account with my international broker earlier this year because I was selling a stock in AUD and wanted my cash to be available immediately in USD.
Anyway, I don't know anything about margin but thought I was handling it correctly only to find that 3 of my AVR shares were sold in a margin call yesterday as I somehow got $60 AUD in the hole and my broker didn't email until after they sold the shares. So I set an order well before the market opened today to buy 3 shares at $20 to make sure it got filled so I got back to a round number of shares.
