The research funding goes to the university med centres as per normal.
VCR are sponsors of the trials ie. we the SHs are paying for them. No guarantees from the US govt whatsoever.

And why would they? Would you be happy knowing that the aust govt were funding trials of an american company - a potential compeitor to the local market?
