I dont think its the start date of the All Ords that you want, its the Incorporation date of the ASX.
All Ords is just a useless mathematical calculation, I mean use the same logic for the S&P 500 and the Dow, you would get two different results, but still looking at the same market.. get the drift.
Have a book at home on the history of the ASX, will try and find it for you then and post tommorow.
