You can run a business in SMSF provided it doesn’t breach the deed and satisfies sole purpose test which is of course to provide long term benefits for the members. Given that Colinchi bombs out on most of his trades he would be a prime target for the super auditors at the tax department for not making investment decisions that shores up the future of the members of his SMSF.
Then Colinchi might run into trouble with what to do with his trading losses - can they be offset against his rare, short term winning trades, or those occasional longer term; held for more than 12 months, share investment gains.
