    They didn't hike the dividend dramatically for the same reason that no other miner has... they don't want to have to cut the dividend if boom turns to bust. Also, so-called "growth" companies typically retain most of their earnings to spend on, you guessed it, growth.

    What they DID do instead (and this was widely expected, so stop whining) was flag $3 billion for a share buyback, choosing to increase shareholder value this way instead. What killed the share price was the timeframe for this, 18 months, after the last one was completed in just 3.
