This crisis is a supply shock that you can’t fight with monetary or fiscal policy.
Low rates are designed to stimulate demand, but they do nothing to mitigate a “supply shock”.
Undeniably, the problem is on the supply side not the demand side.
The solution needs to be a medical one...public health policy. Monetary and fiscal measures do not and will not help.
