C'mon Bob, don't be like that. The information presented here in what ever format it is presented is of use to everyone and discussion irrespective of how we think it's presented may hold the info that in the long run makes or saves us money. It's good to see folks getting passionate about stocks. With regard to share prices / market direction, the small guys will never have much say in how it's run. We can blame "bots" or "institutions" but in the end the only strength the small guys have is the collective knowledge we bring. Hugs all round I reckon.
With regard to the share price of STB, yeah I'm surprised and a bit dissapointed about the reversal following the last annoucement - expected a step up. The only info I've received from seperate brokers is that this is a great stock but political risk is keeping people away. Until MENA (middle east north africa) risk is off the radar folks are reluctant to come out and play so we can expect this thing to go sideways for some time just where it is. I'm certainly not anywhere near selling, just that I haven't put the house on it after coming back in on the last pull back. The only other comment of interest was about portfolio reshuffle going on at the big end of town backing the story of a bull market running to year end before one last sell off into 2012 and then off it runs again. If the guys with the money think they can take above index gains off a blue chip, it's a hard call to back a stock several years off production for which you have to assume policital stablity for at least those years. Even if the broker thought it was great, the heard mentality of the market might trash it in a day and suddenly you're explaining to the punter what you were doing in Eritrea while mena was in perceived turmoil. I myself agree with what has been said here previously, that sovereign risk is reducing and that even in a worst case, would they lose the acerage? Maybe, maybe not. But when your job depends upon only getting above index gains and you're paid only on commission for trade, not on percentage gains, then I can't blame them for taking the safe bet. One last concern raised was the run up in the potash sector has been so substantial that it may have run too fast too hard - again that doesn't stop me holding this stock, simply that I haven't put the house on it. And please don't call me names for stating what I think is the truth about the risks this stock faces - the best to all. Cheers.
