I don't think Packer wants to 'defend any takeover move from Stokes'. I think he is compiling a mountain of shares at $3 or so with the hope of selling them to Stokes at $4 or $5. It looks like a classic Packer move to me.
As a former PBL shareholder, I have always had the uneasy feeling that with their private family companies, the Packers' interests don't always align with other shareholders.
