John Harkins is fully deserving of a honorary doctorate following the announcement today of a collaboration with leading Australian and US universities - Doctor of Marketing and Technical Genius in UCG.
UCG has been going through a trial by fire in Queensland. The collaboration with UNSW and Colorado School of Mines provides academic legitimacy to the CGV Linear CRIP technology in the development of UCG around the world. I admire the fact that the research brief includes "advanced water management techniques surrounding the UCG reactors and disused cavities." CGV is addressing head-on the contentious issue of water contamination which has plagued other UCG players.
Developing a Combined Advisory Panel from the two universities to deliver research backed information and support for CGV's commercial strategies and operations is a key initiative.
Dr Michael Green of course deserves the accolades for the development of Linear CRIP technology. Green has been prepared to subject his technology to the rigors of third party scrutiny at the highest level of expertise. Governments, investors and energy conglomerates will all take notice as CGV goes center stage in the provision of clean coal technologies.
