The app fee is still carry over from old CEO days. The usage of Spacetalk SIM (ex Jumpy) eliminates the cost for the app now and the numbers show that the take up of that option with legacy users is progressively happening.
The new Loop watch will be sold Locked so as to only work with Spacetalk SIM. While the lock will deter some, that number should be small as Spacetalk SIM plans are competitively priced.
The idea is that this will establish Spacetalk as a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) and being with the Telstra network, the revenue from MVNO could soon dwarf the the kids watch and schools revenue.
