Neodymium oxide has been steady at 345 for weeks. There was a sharp jump from 320 to 360 on January 11, 2018. Then it eased back to 345 and has been there unchanged for weeks now. Note: If you want to do calculations to determine how much additional revenue a given price change will result in additional profit to Lynas, remember the prices quoted are inside China prices which include the 17% VAT that only applies to Chinese producers selling to Chinese customers, which have to be pulled out to get the world price that Lynas sells for. As strange as it may seem, it's cheaper for Chinese customers to buy from Lynas at 17% below the Chinese inside price. For example, If the inside China price goes up by $1.00 per kg, the price Lynas sells at goes up by $.83 per kg (Lynas contracts are price adjusted to the spot price monthly). If you look at long term demand (mainly driven by the growth in electric cars), projected additional supply coming on-line in the next 10 years, and the inelastic price curve, you will get very, very excited about what neodymium will go for by 2025. Multiply that 2025 neodymium price by Lynas's expected production, put a PE of 18 on the resultant profits, and sit back and smile. Lynas has probably the safest and greatest long term prospects of any investment you could consider.
