"The point is that it is angry young (and possibly mentally ill) men that are the problem - sometimes they do bad things without having a flag to go by - and, sometimes they jump into some cause.

These sad bags of poop - would still do the same things if Islam didn't exist - they would just do it in the name of something else."

If, as you suggest, the problem relates to young men being angry "and possibly mentally ill", regardless of their religion, then let's look at the predisposition versus the propensity for them to act in this way.

In other words, if there are a bunch of people who have the potential to be angry and mentally ill under certain conditions, what condition is more likely to cause this - Predisposition versus Propensity, or Susceptibility versus Tendency?

    The answer is obvious.

The Quran (together with those who teach it) is more likely than other books (together with preachings of other religions), to tip people with a predisposition to anger and mental illness over the edge to commit such atrocities. Conversely, while there might be people of other faiths (or otherwise) walking around with a predisposition to anger and mental illness, such people do not appear to have been tipped to commit such actions of violence to the same proportion as muslims with the same predisposition. I'd go further and add Arabic background into the mix on the basis that Islam from this part of the world has adjusted far less (if at all) to the modern world and morals, by comparison with the dark ages.

Maybe some sort of formulas like the following could be used to demonstrate this phenomenon:

    Infidel x Nutjob Predisposition = Nutjob Propensity/a

Islam x Arabic background x Nutjob Predisposition = Nutjob Propensityª

    An interesting study:

Most ADF soldiers ‘believe Islam promotes violence and terrorism’

The vast majority of Australian Defence Force personnel believes the Muslim religion promotes violence and terrorism, despite “cultural sensitivity training” by the ADF to have its soldiers take the view that Islam is a religion of peace.
