Thought this was due out today but it came out Tuesday.. Anyway, it is annoying as it reflect the position 2 weeks ago. I want to know short interest yesterday, not two weeks ago. But this is what we get and there is a pattern and it is that short interest is reducing.

NYSE Group Inc. Issues Short Interest Report
New York, October 25, 2011 --The NYSE Group, Inc. today reported short interest as of the close of business on the settlement date of October 14, 2011.

Based on information received from members and member organizations, short interest decreased to 14,673,448,031 shares from 14,938,984,832 shares on September 30, 2011. This was an decrease of 265,536,801 shares.

No doubt the next report will be a huge reduction.

The short interest on October 14 was equal to 3.84 percent of the total shares outstanding.

The short interest in warrants as of October 14 amounted to 130,799,336 warrants, compared to 132,560,502 warrants the previous period.

As of the settlement date, there were 4,479 stocks and 54 warrants available for trading. Of these, 3,778 issues had either a short position of at least 5,000 shares or a change of 2,000 shares since the last monthly report.

A short sale is any sale of a security that the seller does not own or any sale that is completed by the delivery of a borrowed security.
