Alternatively they borrow funds (someone else's savings) and derive a return thereon that is in excess of it's cost. In this role they act as a proxy to the person(s) who have deferred consumption.

Such is capital.

Workers consume more than they earn, and are thus dis-savers, and are thus forced to subsist on, and depend on the only asset they cannot spend all at once, their hourly rate for the skill set, whatever that may be.

In our society, medical doctors, are usually the highest paid workers, but they come in every stripe - there are accountants, pension fund managers, asset managers & lawyers that do as well, but are still workers.

They owe, they owe so sadly off to work they must go...[And oh how bitter & twisted that makes them!?]

The world OWES Tigs ... something?
Tigs OWES the world ... self respect - that most basic human decency!

Sociologically, i.e. at a group level (the social goal is not necessary (see contingent) that of the individual's goal) modern human civilisation starts when groups start to defer their immediate consumption, allowing them to trade goods other than their sole primeval asset, their hourly rate.

As the producers of value, you agree that workers need to be yoked to markets. Each worker as a commodity in the service of markets should be individually tied to the idolatry of free markets and each worker can form his own union. Truly bizarre.
