unlikely. self-transcendence does not mean altruism towards your "own" tribal members
It does mean:
"According to Maslow, self-transcendence brings the individual what he termed “peak experiences” in which they transcend their own personal concerns and see from a higher perspective."
'altruism' or being community minded.....is a good example of this so I have no problem with this view.
