For those who delusionally believe the IDF "lost" in Lebanon...the reality is that the politics of the situation prevented the IDF from implementing its preferred plan

They wanted to move in force to the Litani River and cordone off the country - north to south.

Then move methodically south to the border ensnaring, engaging and wiping out the Hez terrorists wherever they were

Alas....the world's view of how the Israelis needed to exercise restraint (phhtttt) led to the seriously limited RofE that most assuredly allowed the terrorists more opportunity to lob their rockets at the civilians.

And as for the IDF "limping back across the border".....what a silly silly view of the outcome. (not unexpected, of course, given the source...but silly, anyway...)

The war stopped because the UN set in place an end based upon IDF withdrawing and Hez being disarmed.

Surprise surprise surprise...the IDF complied and Hez has REARMED.

So much for the UN...double phhhttt!

    And as for casualties.....

Israel estimated that its forces had killed 600 Hezbollah fighters.

A UN official estimated that 500 Hezbollah fighters had been killed, and Lebanese government officials estimated that up to 500 had been killed and 1,500 wounded.

A Stratfor report cited "sources in Lebanon" as estimating the Hezbollah death toll at "more than 700... with many more to go".

British Military Historian John Keegan estimated that as many as 1,000 Hezbollah fighters were killed.

    Israel Defense Forces

A total of 121 IDF soldiers were killed in the war, including the two soldiers whose bodies were seized in the Zar'it-Shtula incident that started the war, whose fates weren't confirmed until their bodies were exchanged for Lebanese prisoners in 2008.

    43 civilians Israelis were killed.
