ENK hold a massive deposit of laterite. Their presentation demonstrates how they can produce Ni below $4/lb from their proposed open-cut mine. The ore is consistent and with Ni above $10/lb... future production will see strong profits. The one remaining obstacle is that the mine is in a state forest and ENK have been waiting several months for a permit from the Turkish authorities. It's simple to deduce the reaction by SP shoould permission to mine be granted or refused. Hence we have a classic high risk/high reward situation. yesterday's article in 'The Age' outlined the situation. I have taken the plunge and bought in this morning. Only a moderate amount as am risk-averse. So why did i take a gamble? I lived&worked in Turkey from late-1983 to mid-1986 as an agronomist. I found the Turks to be diligent, friendly, capable and reasonable people. I am assuming the govt officialls are of a similar trait and (with stringent conditions) allow this substantial investment and provider of labour to get the green button. Hopefully news not too far away. The SP plunge at today's open may be someone with inside knowledge bailing-out. Time will tell. dyor.
