Desert Metals MD Dr Rob Stuart has confirmed that massive sulphides created these conductors on the edge of the Yligarn Craton.
This is a significant discovery for Desert Metals and other explorers in the region.
All these years it was believed that magnetite was the result of these conductors and not sulphides.
Sulphur is critical in the enrichment of nickel, copper, PGEs, pyrrhotite(iron), as per this video below.
It is important to understand the terminology in the Desert Metals announcement below:
chalcopyrite = copper/iron pentlandite = nickel/iron massive sulphides = greater than 30% sulphur which enrichens nickel/copper/PGEs/pyrrite disseminated sulphides = less thn 30% sulphur usually in layered formation, which still can contain nickel/copper/PGEs, but at lower grades.
Copper at $A12,700/tonne and Nickel at $A22,500/tonne these disseminated sulphides are also highly profitable to mine.
Hopefully, we'll have drilling results in the next couple of weeks on these initial holes.
In addition to the 22metres of disseminated pyrrhotite and chalcopyrite, there is another 5metre intercept of chalcopyrrite (copper/iron), pentlandite(nickel/iron).
Again I'm looking forward to the drilling results for these.
The fact that Desert Metals has spent the money on diamond tail drilling allows us, and him to see the structure of the mineralisation and massive/disseminated sulphides.
The drill holes in green are where the discovery cores have been made and the drill holes in grey are the planned drill holes at Innouendy.
