    Wrong.

Nickel Rim South in Sudbury. Twin shafts sunk to 1450m depth just to access the nickel sulphide orebody. Top of the orebody was 1200m below surface. Found with a small single (Z) component offhole EM anomaly by the way that sat on the shelf for 6 years before they got around to reevaluating it and wedging off the original hole.........

If you have enough of it at the right grade, and the geometry and mining method carries the economics, then you can access it at 650m depth without breaking a sweat. To not bother looking in the first place means you definitely lose out.

No one is saying this anomaly is the motherlode, but it is important if it turns out to be massive sulphide. There are millions of intrusives in the world, out of which thousands have sulphide, out of which dozens have massive sulphide. Get to that point in the game and the odds are looking a lot better that you might find a mine.
