No politician is mentioning the elephant in the room, the costs of maintaining three tiers of government and then the far greater costs of maintaining these leeches on society after they have retired.

The outrageously high pensions that are paid to retired politicians for life, not means tested, plus these leeches receive the increments that sitting politicians receive.

That they are "entitled" to receive payment for consulting, book deals and god alone knows what else after they retire, as a result of the connections that they made whilst in parliament, in addition to their pensions, is a scandal.

These parliamentary pensions will send Australia bankrupt.
