I'm not sure if it's legit so you'll need financial advise to confirm. A friend pointed out a way of retiring early using a SMSF. Basically if the fund is large enough you give yourself an interest only loan at a competive interest rate. You then use that cash to retire early paying back the interest only. If you calculate it correctly come retirement age you will have no cash left from the loan and the loan doesn't get paid back as you are now retired and have access to all the remaing funds in your SMSF.
My friend says it's a strategy that's used but I've not looked into it so anyone looking at this ask an expert.
