I have to admit I have never seen an episode of either.
A Google confirmed that Idol by any other name is still Idol. The originator of Idol even sued successfully, well, settled out of court, in 2005. But don't fret, he still got his name credited as an exec producer, 10% share and no American version 'til 2010.
But, if I had to sit through one, I'll take MC. I like cooking programmes, though not commercialised personality rating ones.
