If you want to earn real money you have to get a qualification beyond engineering. Engineering is for losers. An engineering degree requires real study of the hard sciences. Then you take on real responsibility and get treated like dog poo.
The Institution of Engineers is probbly the most hopeless professional association. It doesn't represent or assist its members. Some years ago it decided to admit TAFE graduates. Can you imagine the AMA admiting nurses or the Law Association admitting clerks?
You will notice the engineers sitting down the back of the factory in the grunge with the boilermakers while the accountants are eating cucumber sandwiches in the boardroom before playing golf.
Look in your own organisation. Who did the easy course, has a nice office and car and is treated like a gentleman. Who gets the directorships.
