Off the top of my head,a pragmatic answer would be that no matter what, the max number you could lose would be 100% of the original investment.
Doesn't matter whether you invested 10c or $10 - max loss is always 100% (without gearing.)
Conversely, the upside is always unlimited - 1,2,4,7,3400 % whatever.
The "phenomenon" is also relative to the starting point. Seems to be big numbers starting with 10c, but not if starting with $10??
I better shut up before I confuse myself with further rambling...............
