My neighbour was over with a pronlem this evening...see if you can solve this one.
In a certain kingdom there are 40 wise men. They like to chat about this and that and play chess. One of the things they like to discuss is each others wives. Each man knows if other wives are faithfull or, have been unfaithful. He doesn't know if his own wife is faithful or not.
The King, a rather old fashioned sort, decrees that if a husband finds out that his wife has been unfaithful, he must kill her. This is to start that night. At the end of the first night, the Town crier proclaims "no women were killed last night". This goes on morning after morning until the morning after the 28th night when the Town Crier declares " Women were killed last night, there are no more unfaithful women remaining in the town".
The question is how many women were killed and how did you arrive at the answer.
My neighbour assures me that the answer is simple and logical.
