Last weekend, although strong performances came in from several films in separate markets The Matrix Reloaded still commanded the entire international marketplace.

Thanks primarily to Japan The Matrix Reloaded remained at pole position in the international race. Japan's second week take of $9m (¥1bn) was just 20% below last weekend's opening gross (excluding previews). The gross was also either the third or fourth largest second weekend ever. The gross helped push its international cume to $347m.

Warner Brothers confirmed that The Matrix Reloaded recorded the largest gross ever for a full week with $30m (¥3.6bn).
