Sallywoofs, you say "After five or six years, anything can happen...even child labor laws and peace could break out in the DRC."
I suspect that any endeavour in sub-Saharan Africa is going to get more and more complex in the future, as the Big Men come in for their billion (or more) dollar windfall.
Firstly, child labour protection will lead to cries of "this is the only way we can feed ourselves, by sending the kids out to work as well! Why are you shutting off our family income source???"
There is no clear or moral answer to this. What will happen as a result?
Secondly - peace in the DRC? It is a largely segmented tribal community, and the Big Men will be wanting to extend their share of the pie.
The Big Men, the more cashed up they become, will fight harder, longer, and more lethally than they could ever do before. There are no prospects whatsoever of peace in the DRC.
