Gday Woof, I think they went for the MAUL vs the 3GL simply because the electronicly stacked round firing method is basically the same in both weapons as it is also in the Firestorm or ADWS, I believe they are testing them against electro magnetic wave interference and how they can be remotely operated etc, and the way they are talking, it sounded to me like they will want something that is good for area defence/denial, perhaps even a hybrid weapon that is both 40mm and 18mm, the MAUL is just the testbed as far as I can see, they may want the MAUL, 3GL, and also Firestorm etc?

Lets hope so anyway!
