Until we hear more - I wouldn't dismiss your observation about the proposed Colt expansion into Florida, announced December 2011. Check out these two extra links about it:

Notes include " A new Colt plant announced in a non-union, right-to-work State, where the company won't say exactly what it will make"

I'd say this is potentially interesting at the least, although I'm assuming (may be wrong) that Colt's Manufacturing Co (mainly civilian customers?) can nevertheless undertake work for the Colt Defence arm? Although the 'right to bear arms' is a civilian line, it suggests a community culture that would perhaps not object to some jobs in a police-enforcement (Maul) market with some military applications going out the door as well, even if that is a longer time frame.

Given Colt's previous interest in the Maul, and "the company won't say exactly what it will make" at the new plant ............ hmmmm...........it is tempting to perhaps 'think about' connecting some dots?
