Nouakchott signs two contracts of division of oil production with Wintershall
MAURITANIE - November 10, 2005 - by MAP Mauritania signed Wednesday with the German company Wintershall two contracts of division of production in the blocks located in the basin of Taoudeni (north-eastern). The contracts were signed by the minister Mauritanian of Energy and oil Mr. Mohamed Ali Ould Sidi Mohamed and Mr. Bernhard Schmidt, member of the Executive committee of Wintershall. According to terms' of these agreements, Wintershall will carry out on these blocks the operations of prospection necessary to an exhaustive evaluation of the hydrocarbon potential in this zone. The operations of prospection will be distributed on three phases of which the duration of each one is 3 years. These operations will start in 2006 with geological investigations to determine the hydrocarbon potential in this zone. The minister Mauritanian expressed the satisfaction of the government Mauritanian after the signing of these contracts with this German partner known by his competence in the various oil fields. He added that several international companies operating in the field of the oil prospection are interested by the basin of Taoudenice which give significances on the existence of oil and gas in this zone. The person in charge Mauritanian reassured the persons in charge for the German company that all their operations with Mauritania will occur in the transparency. For its part, Mr. Bernarhd Schmit known as was satisfied to have been the partner of Mauritania in the field of the oil prospection. Wintershall is one of the large German companies in the production of oil and gas and in the chemical industries. Its activities have been concentrated for 75 years in several active areas and it has great capacities in particular in the fields of prospection and the development of the sources of production.
