The issue we face here is the very low probability of a script bid from big Pharma given their massive cash positions. Cash is burning a big hole in their pockets and they are under pressure from boards to deploy that cash and fix the pipeline issues as well as address the patent cliffs they face. It’s basically poor capital management to leave cash in the bank and issue script for acquisitions.

My guess is any takeover will be cash or a combination of cash and some script at best.

Yes Wedgeman, I think that was what Hamish also referred to. I get CGT discount on a lot of my holding not all, bought in the last year as well. I think there needs to be some creativity, because everything you do in life now is taxed, eat, live, drink, drive, any licences & insurance. There could even be a fart tax incoming! jks but it’s beyond a joke!
