Given the nature of the investment banking business model, its probably more likely a case of the analyst's superiors having ushered him to one side and having said something like, "Listen up, pal. We are trying to do business with MSB, so if you want to get any bonus this year, you'd better start saying only nice things about them."
Why one would put any store of value whatsoever in what broking analysts say - given their woeful track record - is beyond me.
