They are not using the term vaccine because it does not generate an active immune response against the hep c virus. In other words, it only works for as long as the drugs is still being produced by liver cells. It is not an actual immune/memory response. However, the company IS touting the potential to have lasting protection as a result of a positive efficacy to prevent re infection.
