I go there 4-6 times a year, and even in the small gaps of time that I am not there, I am startled at the pace of change. Yes, small scale digital is growing, but so too is the cash economy. Having our foot in both camps is great. "Phygital"! There are still large numbers of people who use digital services like Uber and Amazon, but still prefer to transact payment in cash (for Uber) and COD for Amazon. I am astounded by how prevalent this is. And like many economies around the world, cash still yields better prices in many market scenarios. So not only is cash not going anywhere (in India), cash in circulation is still growing at high rates (albeit not as high as digital transactions).
