@slick
So just to be clear, your argument is: the golden cross; "it’s a long way off" (65282932) and it's "strange", "simple ridiculous" (exact quote), and "misleading", (65283414).
I think even you would find it truly hard to believe the post in question is "misleading", especially if that very post links to a site that defines, explains and provides an example of the golden cross. For example: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/g/goldencross.asp as posted in the original post: (65280415). Furthermore, if the basis for the "misleading" comment is that it's too far away in your eyes, then, unfortunately for you, that is subjective and not necessarily true. If you know anything about how a simple moving average is mathematically calculated, the tracing could change very quickly.
To explain this, let's assume the 50sma and 200sma can move at a similar rate to that of historical movements in ASX:MAY. For example, if you are willing to accept the share price over ~29days moved the 50sma about $0.031/share away from the 200sma, then mathematically speaking, the inverse is also true after all, it's just closing share price sequences averaged.
source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moving_average
And as we can see:
From past performance example 1 incurred a $0.031/share gap (upwards) after ~29 trading days, whereas example 2 made a $0.031/share gap after ~48 trading days (downwards).
Therefore, you must concede it is possible for the 50sma to rise by $0.031/share (the amount required to almost move it almost above the 200sma from today's current tracing) within approximately ~29 trading days.
I don't think it is "strange", "simple ridiculous" (exact quote), and "misleading", (65283414) to alert aka, "a state of careful watching and readiness especially for danger or opportunity" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/alert especially if ASX:MAY has shown before that within 29-48 trading days it can move its 50sma either up or down by the approximate amount required for the golden cross to occur.
To be clear, do I think it would happen in the next 29-48days? No, I think it is more likely to happen if ASX:MAY flows oil from their appraisal wells in x months time. Therefore, I see the golden cross as a future catalyst in and of itself.
It is a shame the frequency of posts a user makes doesn't necessarily correlate to them being correct e.g 10,138 posts. If you are attempting to discredit (although falsely) anything perceived as good news, in order to make a larger entry on a pull back, then Roch2077 will be onto you, as he has been others.
