The above post should be corrected and Who better to do it than a Dcotor! Dr Who is a big supporter of bonus for performance whether a junior or senior executive. In the past Dr Who attempted to articulate on HC reasoning for his supporting the bonus, which is if the company performed the executive is rewarded along with shareholders. The bonus KPI are linked to shareholder wealth creation (largely).
Therefore Dr Who rejects the notion of gullible. On the contrary, if read the terms of bonus correctly then it is self evident no bonus will be paid.
Dr Who maintained that Mr Grech was on a modest base salary for a comparable position. The Total Remuneration Package was largely dependant on performance. That is why the Doc was a 'big supporter', keep the base salary modest and require performance to reach a still moderate TRP of around $1m.
Supporting that remuneration structure is wise and as it turns out warranted due to the non-performance nullifying bonus and therefore leaving a relatively poor pay package for Mr Grech- as it should be.
