You can "buy" into a stock pretty easily as you know. Just hit that buy button. You could just buy in and hope for the best because missiles, Trump etc etc whatever ones rational is for being bullish. However in my opinion if you want to "invest" in a stock especially if you have limited time horizon in mind (whatever that may be) you need to be able to weigh up the macro backdrop discussed above as well as determine where to actually enter your investment. That's where technical analysis comes into it, It's just a tool. Nothing more nothing less. If the macro and technicals align and you're consistently in the black then you've made the transition from a speculator to an educated investor.
