    Here is something Larry Marshall wrote in an titled "the processing power of light" in 2002


    "The unique ability of photons to parallel process
    many channels of information simultaneously enables
    broadband communication and significant cost
    reduction compared to multiple, single-channel
    electronic operations."

    IBM is talking about the advantage of using light over wires in the article.

    So I'd say then that IBM and ARR are using the same basic science but for different applications. IBM is focusing on mini computers on a chip and ARR seems to be into lasers and broadband wireless transmission.

    Anyway there are numerous articles on the Arasor website

    Check em out. They are bit to difficult for me to understand though.
