Inflation and higher interest rates in the US and slower growth which could slow economic growth in China (which sells to the US) all leading to lower demand for resources and London with the LME is heavily geared towards metals, and tax loss selling and profit-taking etc etc. Same as here today only the UK has had both the US selling and all of Asias's selling today as a motivator to do the same.
No "other" expalination is needed. Stop losses and CFDs and shorting all exacerbate both the speed and size of the fall.
